Language & Interpretation Support

Effective communication is essential for successful settlement and integration. At the Rohingya Community of Chatham-Kent (RCCK), we understand that language barriers can make it difficult for newcomers to access services, understand important information, and build confidence in their new community.

How We Can Help

Helping You Communicate with Confidence

Our volunteers provide basic language and interpretation support to help bridge communication gaps and connect community members with the services they need. We also encourage newcomers to improve their English language skills by participating in local language and literacy programs, helping them become more independent and confident in everyday life.

Our Support Includes

  • Basic interpretation assistance (subject to volunteer availability)
  • Translation of simple, non-legal documents
  • Help understanding letters, forms, and community information
  • Referrals to English language and literacy programs
  • Guidance on accessing interpretation services when needed
  • Information about language learning resources in Chatham-Kent

Settlement Information & Referrals

  • Please note that RCCK does not provide certified or professional interpretation for legal, medical, immigration, or court matters. For these situations, we can help connect you with qualified service providers.
  • Our goal is to reduce language barriers, promote independence, and ensure that every newcomer has the opportunity to communicate effectively, access essential services, and participate fully in community life. Together, we help build confidence, strengthen connections, and create a more welcoming and inclusive Chatham-Kent.
